It's our second week into the club and things are really starting to pick up! We have begun addressing prominent community issues and have even started considering app ideas. Additionally, we have started programming apps! This week we worked on a "games" app which will consist of the video game classic Pong and a doodling app as well.
Although we had a little hick-up along the road with scheduling this week, we managed to have a consistent turn out! Because our group features a variety of wonderful, talented, but busy girls, we have decided to split up our meeting times to just one Monday or Thursday. My mission for this club is all about inclusion, so I wanted to make the schedule as flexible as possible for girls to expand their knowledge on potential future interests! This week, we are also accepting applications for leadership positions on the team, such as vice president, treasurer, secretary, and photographer.
It's only week two, but I am already having so much fun with the club!
Thanks for reading!

First meeting complete!
Ladue Technovation hosted it's first meeting today at the library. Girls from every grade level attended and got their first club experience. At today's club, we went over the characteristics of the competition, registered for the competition, went over a brief introduction of MIT App Inventor, and completed some other "paper work" components. Towards the end of the meeting we gauged our level of commitment and we looked at what aspects members wanted to focus their time on. I'm very excited to work with such a wonderful group of girls! We had some technology issues today, but for the most part, today's meeting was a success! Our first meeting was a little bit slow, but once we become more familiar with all of this, I think our progress will start to move quickly! Our Ladue Technovation family is growing and the dedication is already there! I can't wait to see what things our first season of Technovation will bring!

Ladue Technovation is having it's first meeting tomorrow!
Ladue Technovation is having it's first meeting tomorrow after school at the library! Get ready to code your first app! Our plan is to go over the basics of the club, register for the competition, go through legal matters, sort out groups, and get started with MIT App inventor!
Remember, no experience is required! Anyone can learn to code an app through MIT App inventors easy-to-learn tutorials. Find the tutorials here. To get started with the MIT App inventor, all you need to do is create a gmail email if you don't have one yet and create a MIT App inventor account here. Apps can be tested on an emulator or on a real phone! Currently, the MIT App inventor is only compatible with Android.
